What Is the Overseas Domestic Worker Visa?

This visa allows domestic staff to accompany their overseas employer to the UK for a short stay. Key features include:

  • Valid for up to 6 months
  • Worker must be employed for at least 12 months by the same employer
  • The employer must be visiting the UK and not residing permanently
  • No access to public funds or switching routes
  • Limited to private households only

This visa does not lead to settlement, unless you fall under pre-6 April 2012 rules.

  • Not plan to take other employment or rely on public funds
  • Have a valid employment contract, written in English

Employers must also meet certain income and character criteria.
