What Is the Scale-up Worker Visa?
The Scale-up Visa allows overseas professionals to work for UK companies that meet “scale-up” status — typically based on high-growth indicators like employee headcount or revenue increases.
This visa offers:
- Fast-track processing
- Freedom to change employers after 6 months
- No continued sponsorship beyond the first 6 months
- Eligibility for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after 5 years

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
- Be aged 18 or over
- Have a confirmed job offer from a registered scale-up sponsor
- Be assigned a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
- Have a job in an eligible occupation
- Be paid a salary of at least £36,300/year or £10.10/hour
- Meet the English language requirement (B1 CEFR level)
- Have enough maintenance funds, unless certified by your employer
After 6 months, you may change employers or become self-employed without needing further sponsorship.
