Comprehensive Legal Support from London’s Leading Solicitors
The Minister of Religion Visa (T2) is designed for qualified religious workers who have been offered a key role within a faith-based organisation in the UK — whether as a pastor, imam, rabbi, priest, or spiritual leader.
At Right Law Solicitors, we assist both religious institutions and individual applicants in navigating this visa process with clarity and efficiency. We ensure every requirement — from sponsor licence to visa approval — is met with legal precision and full compliance with Home Office guidelines.
What Is the Minister of Religion Visa (T2)?
This visa route allows ordained ministers, missionaries, and religious workers to come to the UK for full-time work in a recognised faith role, such as:
- Leading worship
- Conducting religious rites or ceremonies
- Pastoral care
- Missionary or theological teaching roles
- Community religious leadership
The visa is granted for up to 3 years and 1 month initially, with the option to extend or switch, and offers a route to settlement (ILR) after 5 years.
Eligibility Requirements
- Have a genuine offer of employment from a UK-based religious organisation
- Be assigned a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from a licensed sponsor
- Intend to work full-time in a ministerial capacity
- Be proficient in English language (B2 level)
- Have sufficient funds for maintenance, unless certified by your sponsor
Your role must not be solely administrative, and the sponsoring body must be an officially registered religious organisation.

To sponsor an overseas religious worker, an organisation must:
- Hold a valid sponsor licence under the Minister of Religion category
- Be a bona fide religious organisation operating in the UK
