High Potential Individual (HPI) Visa – Unlock UK Opportunities with World-Class Credentials

Comprehensive Legal Support from London’s Leading Solicitors

The High Potential Individual (HPI) Visa is designed for recent graduates from top global universities who want to live, work, or look for employment in the UK — without needing a job offer or employer sponsorship.

At Right Law Solicitors, we offer expert legal support to ensure your HPI visa application is prepared accurately and submitted on time. Whether you’re coming to launch a career or explore new opportunities, our team provides professional guidance every step of the way.

What Is the High Potential Individual Visa?

The HPI Visa is part of the UK’s points-based immigration system and allows recent graduates from an eligible top university outside the UK to:

  • Live and work in the UK for up to 2 years (3 years for PhD holders)
  • Take on employment, self-employment, or unpaid work
  • Bring dependants (partner and children)
  • Switch into other long-term visa routes, including the Skilled Worker or Global Talent visa

Unlike other routes, the HPI visa does not require a job offer or sponsorship — giving you the freedom to explore your options.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have been awarded a qualification equivalent to a UK bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD
  • Have graduated from a top global university listed on the Home Office’s approved list (within the last 5 years)
  • Meet the English language requirement (B1 CEFR level)
  • Demonstrate sufficient maintenance funds to support yourself in the UK
  • Have a valid ECCTIS verification, if your degree was not taught in English

Note: The university must appear on the Global Universities List for the year of your graduation.

Some universities that often appear on the list include:

  • Harvard University
  • Stanford University

We will help you confirm your university’s eligibility and guide you through the ECCTIS process if required.
